Building Services 2 is a continuation of Building Services 1.In BS2, I learned services in the building such as air-conditioning , fire protection system, vertical transportation system and electricity.
The objectives of the module are: 1. To create awareness and understanding of the principles of service systems in a building.
2. To introduce various building services system that are available and the limitation of choices - the services considered are air-conditioning system, fire protection system, vertical transport like lift and escalator, and electricity.
3. To apply our understanding and knowledge for our preparation of the Bills of Quantities and for estimating purposes.
Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC) After learning this subject, I realized I have developed some of the TGC's.
1.Discipline Specific Knowledge - I am able to put theories into practice
2. Lifelong Learning - I am able to learn independently and effectively locate, extract, synthesize and utilised information
3. Interpersonal Skills -Group assignments made me understand team dynamics and the importance of teamwork
Reflection: Throughout the whole semester, I learned various types of services in a building and their function. Through this assignment, I have an opportunity to study about the services in a shopping mall. When preparing this assignment, we faced rejections in the form of non-approval from various building management, but thankfully the management of THE MINES SHOPPING MALL was kind enough to grant us an approval to do the needful for completion of this assignment. In this instant, I would like to state my appreciation to our lecturer, Mr Kam who has willingly impart his knowledge to us. He made his lessons easy to understand and interesting.
